Taurarua Judges Bay

Role:

Interpretation planning & design

Client:

Auckland Council, Reset Urban Design

This eastern entry to Auckland’s inner harbour underwent a significant upgrade with a multi-phased dredging and landscaping programme to revitalise the last central Auckland swimming beach. The bay possesses tangible heritage from māori and early European phases of the city’s development that deserve to be shared.

The content and placements developed for the interpretive elements provided a way to unravel the evolution of one of Auckland’s most historically significant places and highlight some of the influential characters who inhabited the bay.

Liaison with Auckland Council’s Brand and Comms team ensured information was consistent with new brand language and would fit with their suite of information provision.
