Unveiled and blessed by local Kaumatua at the Kirikiriroa Pā site, on the banks of the mighty Waikato River in Hamilton, a pair of interpretation panels convey the story of Hamilton’s original Māori inhabitants and explain the history and significance of Kirikiriroa Pā.
To provide some visual flavour and add to the sense of place DallowBoss commissioned illustrator Ian Stantiall to create a beautifully crafted visuals to show what the pā would have looked like in the early 1800s.
These panels, along with new parks signage, have been installed by Hamilton City Council as part of the wider River Plan, which aims to reconnect the city with the Waikato River.
