Role:

Wayfinding Strategy & Design

Client:

Auckland Council

DallowBoss was commissioned by Auckland Council to review, rationalise and align wayfinding provision at Auckland Botanic Gardens. In close collaboration with the visitor experience team and Council’s design team, we have been providing consultation, planning and design services to tie in with their programme of physical works and rebranding.

The aim has been to present highly visible pedestrian information that identifies the different collections and conveys the garden’s offering. Printed brochures and onsite maps provide an overview of the gardens and highlight a system of looped routes that visitors can explore.

In a phased implementation, the first suite of timber Collection IDs has been installed along the Pacific Pathway – a new route taking visitors through the heart of the most significant collections at the gardens. Full site map panels and individual collection map panels are coming next, and will add further detail allowing visitors to better understand layouts and features of the different collections.
